ZuPOS is a point-of-sale and loyalty system for The Whale Tea, a bubble tea brand in Singapore. As part of the Techzu team I designed end-to-end flows and interactive prototypes for cashier- and customer-facing interfaces across four form factors — then QA-tested the delivered build.
A bubble tea order has a lot of moving parts — size, sugar, ice, toppings, loyalty points — and it has to be placed quickly by a cashier at rush hour, by a customer at a kiosk, or on a phone. Each surface has different constraints, but the brand and the mental model need to feel like one product.
- 01
Map every flow first
Mapped ordering, customisation, payment, and loyalty flows for each role (cashier, customer, admin) before drawing a single screen.
- 02
Design once, adapt four times
Built a shared component library and tokens, then adapted layouts for touch-first kiosk, handheld mobile, and dense admin dashboards.
- 03
Prototype and test
Turned flows into interactive Figma prototypes for stakeholder review and usability sessions, iterating on friction points.
- 04
Close the loop with QA
Tested the delivered build against the designs — transactional flows, roles, and reporting — so what shipped matched what was designed.
Self-service kiosk
Large-target, glanceable ordering flow designed for first-time customers in a queue.
Cashier POS
Speed-first layout for rush-hour ordering with quick modifiers and clear order summaries.
Admin panel
Menu, pricing, and reporting management for store operators.
Loyalty
Points and rewards woven into the checkout rather than bolted on.
- Delivered cross-platform flows and prototypes used by the development team for implementation.
- A reusable design system that kept four platforms visually and behaviourally consistent.
- Tested the production build, bridging design intent and the shipped product.
“Designing for four form factors at once taught me that consistency lives in the system, not the screens. And testing my own designs in production made me a sharper designer — I now design with edge cases and error states in mind from day one.”
